27In addition to imposing sentence under the Provincial Offences Procedure Act in relation to a conviction for an offence under this Act, a judge
(a)
may make an order prohibiting the defendant from owning or having any animal in his or her possession or care and control for a period prescribed by the judge,
(b)
shall, in the case of a second or subsequent offence, make an order prohibiting the defendant from owning or having any animal in his or her possession or care and control
(i)
for the lifetime of the defendant, or
(ii)
for a period prescribed by the judge, and
(c)
may make an order vesting in the society
(i)
the ownership of all animals owned by the defendant, or
(ii)
the ownership of the animal in respect of which the prosecution has been commenced.
